On Burgum Pond Cottages was founded in 2016 by a family of passionate travelers who wanted to share their love of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland combined with excellent hospitality. Today, we continue to welcome guests from all over the world, providing them with a unique and authentic experience.
On Burgum Pond has four stand-alone guest houses on the property as well as the main house. The property spans two plots on a total of 5 acres. We are currently in the process of reforesting the land with local native rainforest trees and plants and have had our local Brush Turkey Enterprises consult on the restoration. We are also creating walkways down to the pond and some seating areas overlooking the pond and lake and within the new forest area. The next phase will be to create an avenue through the Macadamia trees, seating under the large Jacaranda and another pond to entice the chickens and ducks.
We offer four beautiful, private stand-alone cottages, each with its own unique charm and character: Possums, our one-bedroom, one-bathroom and outdoor hydrotherapy spa, ideally suited to 2 guests; Kookaburra can be rented out either as a one-bedroom, one-bathroom for 2 guests or as a two-bedroom, two-bathroom for up to 5 guests; Wallaby can be rented out either as a two-bedroom, one-bathroom for up to 4 guests or as a three-bedroom, two-bathroom for up to 6 guests; and our latest addition, Bunya, can be rented out as a one-bedroom with ensuite for 2 guests, a two-bedroom, two-bathroom for up to 4 guests or as a three-bedroom, two-bathroom with the second story bedroom and lounge, for up to 8 guests. We provide a delicious breakfast basket filled with local and home-made produce. From freshly baked bread, croissants and pastries to eggs from our chickens and fresh local seasonal fruit to milk and yoghurt from Maleny's award-winning dairy and cheese factory; breakfast at On Burgum Pond is the perfect way to start your day.
We are introducing our new "picnic @ the pond" offer that includes a picnic hamper with a selection of local Maleny cheeses, artisan bread, crackers and fruit paired with either a bottle of red or white (or both) and use of the fire chimnea. Please enquire. "Picnic @ the Pond" is subject to availability and weather.
We understand that for some of us our pets are family too, so we are more than happy to accommodate them at On Burgum Pond.
As we are semi-rural and part of a wildlife corridor, the property is not fenced. We also ask that dogs remain on lead at all times when on the grounds as we have an abundance of bird and wildlife (and don't forget our free-range pasture-fed bantam chickens) on the property.
We charge a $30.00 pet fee per stay and allow a maximum of 2 pets (but can be flexible depending on size and cottage).
We are more than happy to accommodate your bridal party and are happy to have hairdressers, makeup artists, photographers, etc. on the premises. There is ample parking for all extras outside the property on the grass verge.
We have begun to reforest the land with local native rainforest trees and plants and have had our local Brush Turkey Enterprises consult on the restoration. Through the new rainforest we have created a wide mulched, meandering pathway to take you gradually down to a new decked seating area at the pond. We will be continuing the mulched path to all the cottages so that each one will have direct access to the mulched paths and the pond. We will also be creating different seating areas along the path and at the pond so all our guests can enjoy the property while still maintaining their privacy.
Kookaburra Cottage is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom house providing a modern, clean and quiet living space in a garden setting. The front door opens into the open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area. The kitchen has high end appliances, with ample cupboard and stone benchtop space.
The back wall of the living area is made up of a full width window and sliding door that opens up on to the large deck overlooking the lake.
Both bedrooms have sliding door access to the deck and overlook the lake, the rain forest and macadamia tree and both have their own ensuite bathroom.
Kookaburra Lakehouse is the entire living area with access to only one bedroom and ensuite bathroom
The retreat provides a modern, clean and quiet living space in a garden setting. The front door opens into the open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area.
Double French doors on either side of the wood burning stove lead out to the large deck offering a panoramic view of the garden and Jacaranda and Macadamia trees.
The bedroom with Queen bed overlooks the garden through French windows and has an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower.
The hydrotherapy spa is on the fully enclosed and very private side deck and is for the exclusive use of the guests staying at Possums Retreat.
The two-bedroom, one bathroom house provides a modern, clean and quiet living space in a garden setting. The gate from your parking opens onto a decked courtyard leading to your front door that opens into the open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area.
The built-in fireplace is central to the living area and the back wall is made up of a full width window and sliding door that opens up on to the large deck offering panoramic views of the lake and surrounding valley and trees.
Bedroom 1 with Queen bed and Bedroom 2 with a double bed both have their own door to the en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower.
Wallaby Cottage has an annex across the inner courtyard from the main house which has a double bed and a single bed as well as its own bathroom ensuite with large shower.
Wallaby House is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house that encompasses both the main house and the annex.
The renovation to this face brick 1970's house has brought Bunya into the new century and has created a modern, clean and quiet living space in a garden setting surrounded by mature trees.
The entrance leads you into the light filled large lounge with fireplace and French doors overlooking the patio and front garden. Next door is the dining room with sash windows and fireplace and adjacent to the full kitchen with all necessary appliances and ample storage and bench space.
On the ground floor is the master bedroom with queen bed and its own ensuite, bedroom 2 with a double bed and the family bathroom. Upstairs is bedroom 3 with queen bed and bedroom 4 with a double bed and another lounge area.
The wrap around patio allows for two outdoor entertainment areas: the back for dining with access to the kitchen and the front accessed via the lounge doors to the garden, for sitting, playing and relaxing.
